Green Lemur Ltd - Training

I ran a training course for the Publishing Training Centre for two years, from 2006 to 2008. Aimed at the publishing sector, the focus of the course was the transition from working on print-based publishing projects to working on digital projects. The market for the course was editorial staff in publishing companies that were finding their jobs becoming increasingly e-centric. The course was very well received and ran both as an open course at the publishing training centre and as a more focussed course for individual publishers.

The course has now moved on and I am no longer running the training. The remit of the course was very wide, and I felt that the main area that people were looking to spend time on was project management. Although I am more than happy to take on a project manager role, and to know I can deliver what is required, I don't spend enough time immersed in the practice and theory of project management to confidently teach it.

I still believe passionately that technical understanding of the issues involved in developing software is a need that has to be addressed in the educational publishing industry. I will be updating the Green Lemur website in the next few months with a blog and a new section dedicated to providing information and resources that anyone can use to help understand and deal with the issues of digital publishing. I will also be working on a service to provide a collaboration and project management service to all clients I work with as part of the service I can offer. Contact Green Lemur if you would like to discuss training or consultancy needs in this area, or if you would like to be notified when the new section goes live.
